WE ARE UNBEATABLE- TPDF NETBALL QUEENS

Tanzania Peoples Defence Force (TPDF) netball queens emerged as the top team yet again after becoming the winners of netball game at the 8th edition of the EAC Military Games and cultural event for 2014 at Abeid Aman Karume stadium, Zanzibar.

The exciting tournament reached its cliamax on 29th and was closed by Tanzania Prime Minister His excellence Mizengo Peter Pinda.

TPDF netball queens were crowned this victory for 8th times since these games started in 2006 after beating Uganda Queen by 36 – 30.  This has made them unbeatable and the heroines of netball game in East African Military netball teams.

Speaking on behalf of the team, team captain Coplo Dorika Mbunda Said their victory is the fruits of hardworking and following the instruction of their coach. The team coach Sara Sambay commented that efforts and hard work has made their team to be legend of this game and she insisted that they guarantee to keep home this trophy for many more Years to come.

TPDF won six trophies and three gold medals in cross country-men and netball and best football defender, one silver medal – football and one bronze – handball.

The EAC military games and cultural event is annual sports that include five Nations from East Africa which are Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi. The themes of 2014 games was “One people, one destiny through EAC Military Games and Cultural event” with the main objective of consolidating Peace by bringing together East African Soldiers and eventually consolidating Unity among Partner States.

Speaking in the closing remarks the Chief of Defence Forces Davis Mwamunyange hailed all the teams and said these events has coincide with the 50th Anniversary of TPDF which make it to be double celebration. He said these games does not only give them opportunity to meet as defence people but also give them rare opportunity of working together through sports to bring peace and harmony in the Region.

CDF Mwamunyange handed the EAC flag to Deputy CDF of Uganda Lt General Charles Angina signifying Uganda hosting 9th EAC Military games and events, 2015, he wished them successfully preparation.
