Background
The Ministry of East African Cooperation was established Vide Government Notice No.1 of January, 2006.  The Heads of State of the EAC Partner States, during their Summit held in Dar es Salaam in May, 2005, decided to establish ministries solely responsible for EAC Affairs in their Government organization structures. Until March ,2008 all the Partner States (Kenya,Tanzania,Uganda,Rwanda and Burundi . Therefore, the establishment of the Ministry was an implementation of the referred decision of the Summit.  The Ministries were established with a view to accelerating the region’s integration process.

The establishment of the Ministry of the East African Cooperation is an achievement on its own by playing an important role on the linakge between the Government, the Private Sector , People ,and other Stakeholder on issues pertaining to East Africa. Furthermore, the Ministry facilitates and play the coordinating role in the country in respect of overseeing and implementation of the EAC Treaty and its Protocol . In addition the Ministry co-ordinates and facilitates the participation of Tanzania in the ermerging market and investment opportunities emanating from the East African Community so that Nationals can enhance their competitiveness in the regional business integration.
